General Licensing Course

Eight students are making their way towards getting their General ticket in the EARS sponsored spring course.

Congratulations go out to Andrew John W8OU who is recipient of the "Ham Radio Operator of the Year" award.  The EARS Board voted unanimously to present Andrew with this award for his service and dedication to the Club.

Centennial Edition of Oklahoma Statehood Day

EARS celebrated the Centennial by holding a special event station at the State Capital Publishing Museum on November 10th and 17th in Guthrie.  EARS used 1x1 call sign W5G to commemorate the event.  Special thanks to the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society and Noble County Repeater Group for helping us celebrate!  Certificate provided to those sending a large envelope with appropriate postage to:  EARS, PO Box 48, Edmond, OK 73083.

 

D-Star Access

D-Star repeaters in the NE Oklahoma City area are currently being tested. The repeater information is as follows:

VHF: 147.45 Output, 144.45 Input (-3 MHz split (no duplexer)) AE5DN__C

UHF: 442.775 Output, 447.775 Input (+5 (regular)) AE5DN__B

Amateur Radio Week

EARS Scholarship Awarded

The annual Bertha Watson Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Yaan Huang, a graduate of Edmond Memorial High School and an aspiring nurse attending UCO in the Fall.  The Bertha Watson Scholarship is funded by the generosity of EARS members and the UCO Foundation. Congratulations to Yaan!

Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon

The EARS repeater was alive with activity at the end of the marathon when it was transitioned from back up status to the primary repeater.  Area ham radio operators monitoring the course were able to request supplies and other resources to assist runners.  Thanks to all EARS volunteers who participated in this large-scale event!

 

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Irish eyes were smiling on March 17 when Mother Nature brought beautiful weather to Oklahoma City for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.  77 entrants made their way towards Bricktown with the guidance of Steve Kuper KC5RYT and many other EARS volunteers.  Thanks to all who gave their time and provided assistance in this awesome event!
